With more than 20 years of experience in the seafood industry, created the crew onboard benchmark tool in 2014, and he is leading the improvement of OSA global program and training.
Marcelo has 20+ years experience in the seafood industry, of which in sustainable matters, fisheries & aquaculture supply value chain management and governance for more than 10 years now. In 2014, Marcelo founded his independent international advisory company called Seafood Matter, specializing in integrated quality management, responsible sourcing, tracking & tracing, and seafood supply chain management.
Knowledgeable and experienced in the tuna and the shrimp industry, Marcelo has been advising large retail companies, seafood producers, seafood processing suppliers and seafood industry in application and improvement of responsible sourcing & sustainable seafood matter in their supply chain.
Formerly he was Trimarine’s Quality Assurance auditor, the Product Integrity Manager at Pacifical c.v., the Project Manager of Parties of the Nauru Agreement (PNA) for the MSC CoC onboard, As a lead assessor, Marcelo has carried out more than 200 combined assessments of MSC Chain of Custody and ASC farms as well as assessments of labour and working conditions in the seafood supply chain. He is an SA8000 auditor, hold a bachelor in Aquaculture and study a Master in Food Science and technology in Leuven University in Belgium.
